That’s a wrap for Sanquhar Riding of the Marches 2025!
A huge well done to our Cornet Euan, Cornet’s Lass Blythe & Ensign Sarah – you carried out your duties perfectly and done Sanquhar and yourselves proud! Have an amazing year in office.
Queen Cate, Attendants Katie, Devyn & Layla, Herald Ruaridh and Page Xander – you were all brilliant all week and carried out your duties to perfection
Big thanks also to our Crowning Lady, Team 2024, Provost, Bailies, Burgh Piper, Halberdier, Norman Burns, Town Clerk & Burgh Grooms – another fantastic year
To the March Riding Association committee and those outside the committee – thank you for all your hard work all year round to make this week a success.
Thanks to the Troopers Club, Cornets Club, riders, all the bands, window decorators & everyone who joined the parade – you filled Sanquhar with colour and smiles all week.

Sanquhar Royal Burgh March Riding Association
We are pleased to announce Sanquhar Riding of the Marches 2025 will take place from Fri 8th Aug to Sun 17th Aug with our main day on Saturday 16th Aug 2025.
Our Principal Elects and Queens Party for 2025 have been elected and we would like to wish them the best of luck for their week and year in office.
As a successful 2024 Sanquhar Riding of the Marches concludes we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the 2024 Principals Troy, Abbi and Jill who carried out their duties perfectly and done Sanquhar and themselves proud! Enjoy your year in office!
Queen Lucy, her attendants Dana, Lexi and Hope, Herald Riley and Page Liam you were brilliant all week and carried out your duties to perfection.
Congratulations to our Crowning Lady Irene Turnbull who carried out her duties flawlessly and with pride.
To our Provost, Ballies, Burgh Piper, Halberdier and Burgh Grooms – another brilliant week, well done and thanks for everything you do.
Well done Team 2024!
Thank you to all of the March Riding Association committee members who worked tirelessly all year to make the Riding of the Marches 2024 a success.
We would also like to say a big thank you to Sanquhar Troopers Club and Cornets Club & all those involved in helping to organise this years ride-outs and events throughout the week.
And of course, thank you everyone who decorated windows and to all of our riders, bands and everyone who dressed up and filled the parade with fun and smiles.
We are extremely grateful to our Sponsors Dumfries and Galloway Council, Foundation Scotland, Shaws, BayWa.re and to all local businesses and those in the community who donate through the year and week to help us ensure we keep the Riding of the Marches traditions alive and have a full program of events for the Community to enjoy.
Police Scotland have been a huge help both in the lead up and during the week, thanks to the entire team for their cooperation and support across this years events.
To the council grounds team who ensured everything looked great all week and for the brilliant clean up after our main day on Saturday.
And finally to everyone in Sanquhar and all visitors who came from further afield to ride, support and celebrate with us….. thank you, we hope you had an amazing time.
ROM 2024 is done, time for a quick rest and then we will start planning for 2025.
